Manu o Kū Art Exhibition

​Hui Manu o Kū is excited to announce a curated art exhibition hosted by Capitol Modern and the Hawai'i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts! Artists of all ages are welcome to submit artwork inspired by the beloved official bird of the City and County of Honolulu--the White Tern or Manu o Kū!

Submission Guidelines

Artwork must feature manu o Kū.
Eligibility: Hawai'i residents.
All media welcome (2D, 3D, photography, etc.), however, AI work will not be accepted. 
Artists may submit up to 2 artworks for consideration.

To submit an piece, please email [email protected] the following information:
  • Artist Name
  • Medium
  • Dimensions (maximum size 16x20 including frame)
  • Title
  • Photo of artwork
  • Optional: artist statement and bio

Submission deadline: January 10, 2026
Artist notification: January 12, 2026
  • At this time, artists will need to complete a liability waiver.
Accepted work drop-off: Time and location TBA. All artwork must be ready for hanging or installation.
Pick-up of work: Date and time TBA.
  • Optional: Artist may donate artwork toward manu o Kū conservation.
